How To Become A True Believer In Jesus Christ And Faithfully Receive The Holy Spirit

To be a believer means –

You believe Jesus walked on this earth as the Son Of God. (The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 NIV)

You believe Jesus preached the true gospel. A gospel of repentance of sins and turning back to God. (But Jesus told them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well, because that is why I was sent.” Luke 4:43)

You believe Jesus was crucified and died on the cross and shed His blood for the atonement of sins. (There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between. John 19:18)

You believe that He resurrected and ascended into Heaven. (Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26)

The question is, do you believe? Do you believe in Jesus Christ?

If you believe in The Lord Jesus Christ, then you are Saved.

To be a believer means you believe in Jesus Christ. That is the basis of Faith. The word Faith is synonymous with believing. If you have Faith in something, then that means you believe in that thing.

Jesus said to have eternal life is “To know God, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom God have sent.” (John 17:3 NIV)

The basis of your Faith is having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ because when you believe in Jesus Christ, it bridges the gap and brings you into a relationship with God.

A Life Transformed Through Jesus Christ

That reconciliation is the beginning of life transformation and a relationship with God. The moment you believe in Jesus Christ and accept salvation, The Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you and begins to work in you, and as the days turn into weeks and months, you will start to see tangible change in your life. For example, if you used to drink, smoke, fornicate, lie, steal, and live a sinful life, that lifestyle will begin to be less appealing to you, and gradually you will turn away from it to live a new life that is upright before God. Also, you will have The Holy Spirit convicting you anytime you think of doing something that is not pleasing to God.

As a believer, it is all about having a relationship with God. God’s original intention was for humanity to have a relationship with Him before sin came into the world. So when we believe in Jesus Christ and turn away from our sins and towards God, God is putting back in place His original plan of having fellowship with man.

Prayer Is The Communication Between You And God

As you start your new relationship with God through Jesus Christ –

Develop a habit of constant prayer with God. I am not talking about praying twice a day, morning when you get out of bed and night when you are getting ready to go to bed. Prayer is a communication with God, and just like how you will communicate with friends and family members multiple times a day, God wants to have that same communication structure with you. He wants to talk with you always. (Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV)

Pray and ask God to lead you to the right church, a church that teaches the true gospel. Unfortunately, many churches teach false doctrines, so it is vital to ask God to show you to the right church that teaches God’s word, teaches you how to grow your relationship with God, and how to grow spiritually.

Surrender Every Aspect Of Your Life To God

The next and most essential part of your walk with God is surrendering and submitting all areas of your life to God. This submission is the challenging part that many Christians have trouble with – it is human nature (part of our fallen nature) to want to control everything. Most Christians still struggle with areas of their life because they don’t know how to submit them to God. They may submit some parts of their lives to God and hold on to other aspects of their lives, which creates contention and strife, and stress – but God is saying to submit ALL areas of your life to Him because He wants to take care of you. Surrender your marriage, relationships, finances, work, mental health, children, decisions, and everything else.

God Is With Us Through Our Difficulties

God promised us that He would never leave us nor forsake us. (Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV)  To live as a Christian means you will have the enemy not happy with you and want to mess with you, but know that God is with you. There are times that your Faith will be tested; you will go through trials – but these trails will build your character and train you In your walk with God. In times of difficulties, you might feel like giving up, but that is time that God’s hand is powerfully on you, and He wants you to endure until that season of trials is over. Going through the valley strengthens your Faith in God.

God is waiting to have a relationship with you. All you have to do is believe in His son Jesus Christ, surrender your life to God, pray continually, study God’s word, and follow God’s plan for your life.
