Our Life Coaching help people heal from emotional and psychological trauma.

What Is Emotional Trauma?

Emotional or psychological trauma happens when you experience a negative event over a long period. It might also be that you experienced the event one time, but it took a profound emotional toll on your psyche.

Defense Mechanisms

When negative events happen to you, your body builds a defense mechanism to cope with the trauma. These defense mechanisms can range from negative emotions as –
Personality change
Isolating from other people
Fear
Anxiety
Depression
Insecurity
Suicidal thoughts
Self-doubt
Lack of self-confidence
Agitation
Irritability
Emotional detachment
Loss of interest

We tend to hold onto these negative emotions for a long time, and they act as a defense mechanism. These emotions tend to affect us in other ways that can be detrimental to our lives and health.

These negative emotions affect our outlook on life, relationships, career, family, and overall physical and mental health.

As counselors, we work with individuals to break those negative defense mechanisms, clear their hearts and mind of unwanted emotions, and replace them with healthy emotions that will propel them to achieving a healthy mental and emotional status.

Once an individual has healed from emotional trauma, there is a drastic turnaround in that person’s life. There is a newfound meaning to life, the person exhibit behaviors such as

Hope – Things turn around for the best
Gratitude – Appreciation
Peace – Calm
Joy – Feeling of affection
Serenity – State of peacefulness
Inspiration – Uplifting experience
Confidence – Sense of high-esteem

Individuals who heal from emotional trauma begin to exhibit these positive emotions. It propels them to step out into a new sense of life, a new identity, and a new purpose in life. There is a dramatic shift in their attitude towards themselves, family, career, and relationships.

How Does Emotional Trauma Happen?

Emotional trauma can happen to you at any time in your life. It can happen through negative experiences from your childhood; it can happen in your adult life’s negative or traumatic experiences.

Here Are Some Causes

Hurtful words that someone speaks to you repeatedly or even one time can affect your psyche, creating emotional trauma.

Living in an abusive home can cause someone to become emotionally traumatized; This can be a child growing up in an abusive home or a spouse living with an abusive partner.

People who had been in authority over you, such as teachers, parents, and family members, can cause emotional trauma in verbal and non-verbal ways that can cause trauma.

Societal influence and events can cause emotional trauma; friends, bad relationships, unexpected events.

Parental abandonment.

Mistrust of people.

Emotional events, such as the death of a loved one.

To heal from emotional trauma, we need to work to pull down barriers built in our minds that serve as a cushion and a defense mechanism. We need to heal the heart and release all unforgiveness from the people responsible for the trauma, and most importantly, we need to forgive ourselves, which is the first step to fully healing. To heal from emotional trauma, you have to be dedicated and be intentional to work through to bring down the defense barriers that have been put in place for protection.

The healing does begin with you. Once you heal on the inside, it reflects on the outside.

God wants every person to heal from their emotional trauma because it grips up to 80% of the population. Most trauma manifests itself as fear, doubt, and insecurities that hold people back from living a meaningful, purposeful, and fulfilling life.
