Who Is The Holy Spirit And How Does He Work In A Believers Life?

In May 2019, when I decided to surrender my life to God, something incredible happened days later, leading me to where I am today. When I think back to what happened, it reminds me of what happened to Jesus Christ after His baptism. Matthew 3:16 says, As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

Here, I want to emphasize the Spirit of God, which is the Holy Spirit coming on Jesus Christ – The same thing happened to me when I fully surrendered my life to God. The Holy Spirit came to reside within me, and He began the process of regeneration and renewal (Titus 3:5). In Jesus’s case, the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness to be tempted (Matthew 4:1-11).

So as believers, we receive the Holy Spirit at the moment; we believe in Jesus Christ and surrender our will to God

After we surrender our will to come to believe in Jesus Christ as the way to God, the Holy Spirit will come and begin His work in us. Some of that work includes renewing our mind, healing us from emotional trauma, revealing our purpose to us, giving us gifts to use for God’s glory. Also, He will teach us everything about the Word of God, guide us on our path, plus so many more I will discuss later in this post.

The Wilderness Season

This journey is termed the “wilderness season or going through the refiner’s fire.” We draw closer to God through this journey, and He tests us, believers, a lot to also know our heart towards Him. God did the same thing with the Israelites, but unfortunately, most of them did not pass the test, so they had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until the next generation had grown up to inherit the “promised land.”

So If you believe you are in your wilderness season, my counsel to you is to be obedient to God, stop complaining, believe in Him, and have Faith.

Who Is The Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit Of God. So in the old testament, when God wanted to speak through a prophet, He sent His Holy Spirit to be on that person, and He speaks through the Holy Spirit through that person.

The Holy Spirit revealed who He was to me because I wasn’t sure what His role was in my life for a while. I had heard people talk about working with the Holy Spirit, but when I researched who the Holy Spirit was in my life, I did not get a clear picture (no one explained it clearly for me to understand).

So the Holy Spirit Himself explained to me who He was, and He used the most straightforward analogy because He knows I like to study things using analogies (how intimate is the Holy Spirit?)

So here is how the Holy Spirit explained who He is to me.

He said, if I can imagine speaking on the phone with my father, who lives in another country, I can get a clear picture of His work in my life. So He said the phone represents the Holy Spirit, and He is the intermediary between God and me. So, for example, when God speaks to me, He speaks to me through the Holy Spirit; when I pray and communicate with God, I pray being led by the Holy Spirit to present my requests and thanksgiving to God.

And it was so with Jesus Christ; He spoke what His Father spoke because He was hearing His Father’s words through the Holy Spirit. I hope this makes sense to you because this was the most straightforward explanation I had received, and the Holy Spirit gave this explanation to me.

How Does The Holy Spirit Work In A Believers Life?

The Holy Spirit does not reside in everybody, only people who are believers and have surrendered their life to God. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit is an Important Person in a believer’s life. Without the Holy Spirit, the believer can not do anything. And also, the believer will not be able to hear from God.

Here are some of the work the Holy Spirit does in our life

The Holy Spirit teaches and brings things to our remembrance (John 14:26)

The Holy Spirit helps you when you are weak and intercedes for us in prayer (Romans 8:26)

Also, The Holy Spirit gives us understanding (1 Corinthians 2:10-14)

The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:11)

Also, The Holy Spirit guides and directs our steps (Acts 8:29)

The Holy Spirit speaks the truth (Isaiah 6:8-9)

The Holy Spirit testifies to us (Hebrews 10:15)

In addition, The Holy Spirit lives within us (1 Corinthians 3:16)

The Holy Spirit reveals all things to us (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)

Also, The Holy Spirit gives us strength (Zechariah 4:6)

The Holy Spirit sanctifies us (2 Thessalonians 2:13)

In addition, The Holy Spirit is received by believers through baptism (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 12:13)

The Holy Spirit is our advocate/counselor (John 16:8-11)

In addition, The Holy Spirit regenerates us (Titus 3:5)

The Holy Spirit walks with us (Galatians 5:16)

The Holy Spirit gives us fruits as He works to make us more like Jesus Christ. The fruits of the Holy Spirit include love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these (Galatians 5:22)

You can grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30)

The Holy Spirit leads us in prayer (Jude 1:19)

Also, The Holy Spirit is a mark on Christians who believe (Ephesians 1:13)

The Holy Spirit rests on a person, gives them wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, and teaches them to fear God. (Isaiah 11:2-3)

So as you can see, the Holy Spirit does so much in the believers’ lives. And since I surrendered my life to God, the Holy Spirit came and lived in me, so much has happened. The Holy Spirit has regenerated me spiritually. He helped me renew my mind; I have overcome all the anxiety, depression, worry. I have so much peace, joy, and contentment. Also, I broke some generational stuff that was attached to me. The Holy Spirit has guided me on the path to my purpose. After two years, I am finally doing my purpose work – I have a Counseling and Prayer Ministry, and I have Business Consulting Firm

Was the journey to where I am now easy? Oh my goodness, NO, It was one of the most challenging times in my life, but God never gave up on me. Was it worth it? Yes and Yes.

Now, I pose these questions to you.

How did life take a turn for you when you fully surrendered to God?

How has the Holy Spirit led you to where you are in life now?

Were the plans you had for yourself similar to the plans God had for you?

Thanks for every other great article. The place else may anyone get that type of information in such a perfect approach of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I am on the search for such information.

Having read this I thought it was very informative. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this article together. I once again find myself spending way to much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth it!

obviously like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll surely come back again.
