The Attributes Of God
Aseity Of God
There is eternity, and there is time. God lives in eternity, and we live in time. That is why God’s timing is very different from our timing.
What Is Eternity?
Eternity is the continuance without beginning or end.
God has existed from eternity. God always existed all by Himself but chose to create us for His glory and majesty. God is self-sufficient, self-existent; He is not dependent on anything or anyone outside of Himself for His existence.
The basis of our lives is derived from God. God is the source from which all things come from.
The Spirituality Of God
God is immaterial, which means God is spiritual rather than He is physical. God is without physical composition, and He does not have a material body.
God does not have body parts, but in the Bible, He is described as having body parts for our limited understanding. Anthropomorphic, which means having human characteristics, is how we human can better understand God with descriptions when we hear God being described as ‘having eyes’ ‘the heart of God’ ‘God’s hand is not short’ these descriptions help our human mind better relate to God, and how He works.
God is invisible – This means you can not see God. Exodus 33:20 “But, He said, ‘You cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.’ (NIV)
This is why the Bible also tells us to live our live by faith and not by sight.
God is infinite – He is impossible to measure. God is very full.
The Sovereignty Of God
God is sovereign. He possesses all supreme or ultimate power. God actively reigns and governs this world. In the beginning, in Genesis 1:26 ‘Then God said, let US make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along on the ground.’ – (NIV)
God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit came together to counsel about creation.
God created you with purpose and intention.
- When you will be born
- Who your parents will be
- What your gender will be
- Your DNA
God created you with a purpose, God’s divine determination for what your life will be and how your life will unfold is to bring glory to God. As with everything that happens on earth, God’s sovereign Will will come to pass.
One of the best ways to experience God’s sovereignty is through creation.
The Holiness Of God
God is separated above His creation. God is holy, and you cannot find sin in Him.
The Omnipresence Of God
God is all present; He is everywhere at all times in the fullness of Himself.
The Omniscience Of God
God is all-knowing. God possesses all knowledge in His mind, all infinite knowledge of the past, present, and future.
The Omnipotence Of God
God is all-powerful; therefore, there is nothing impossible with God. God is almighty; God has infinite power.
The Immutability Of God
God is unchangeable in His character and all His ways. God is fixed in who He is – God is unchanging in His nature.
God is unchanging in His word.
God is unchanging in His plan.
God is unchanging In His salvation.
