How To Completely Surrender Your Life To God | Ep 1

How To Completely Surrender

I know people’s first emotion when we talk about surrendering to God is fear. They are often scared God will lead them on a path they do not want to go on, but remember what God said in Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ This promise is not only for the Jews but also for you, a Gentile, if you have given your life to Jesus Christ

One of the most powerful principles in the Bible can be found in Proverbs 3:5-6′ Trust in the Lord with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways submit to him,

    and he will make your paths straight.’

This Bible verse tells us not to lean on our understanding but submit All our ways to God. I read this is a foundational verse the Jews stand on, which is why most of them are successful in all they do. We must follow God’s Will and plans for our life because before He created us, He wrote out our life before anyone of them came to be. Psalm 139:16 ‘Your eyes saw my unformed body;

    all the days ordained for me were written in your book

    before one of them came to be.’

Therefore, we must be adamant about wanting to follow God’s plan for our lives, it may not be easy, but it is very worth it.

What Happens During The Surrendering Phase?

When you make up your mind, you have had enough of the life you are living for yourself and want the life God has for you; that is the first step to changing your life. After that, it must be a mind and heart change, basically repenting and changing your mind.

If you believe you are ready to Completely Surrender your life to God, here is a prayer you can pray to affirm your transition from living for yourself to living for God.

PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus, I am now willing to place my body, my soul, my spirit, and my entire life into Your hands. I now ask that You place me into Your perfect will for my life. From this moment on, I will choose to stay fully surrendered to You all the days of my life and will allow You to lead and direct my life in the direction that You will want it to go in.

Thank you, Father

Thank you, Jesus

Thank you, Holy Spirit

Congratulations on surrendering your life to God! You have done an excellent thing. Your life as you know it has changed forever. Also, I will like to lead you to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior so your conversion will be complete in the eyes of God. In Romans 10:9, it says, ‘If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.’ Also, Romans 10:10 says, ‘For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.’

Receive Eternal Life

To get saved and have eternal life, you must declare with your mouth that ‘Jesus Is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. It is the belief in your heart that justifies you. You can pray something like this –

Father, I come before you in repentance of sins. I confess all my sins before you (mention all known and unknown sins and audibly confess them). I believe that Jesus Christ walked the earth, was crucified, died, buried, and was raised up from the dead and is sitting at Your right hand. Father, I believe in Your Son Jesus Christ; I give my life to You. Thank You, Jesus Christ, for dying for me and being my Savior. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Again, Congratulations! You are saved; you have received eternal life!

The Regeneration Process And The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit will come and live inside of you, and the regeneration process will begin to happen. Acts 2:38 says ‘Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ The regeneration process is vital in every new believer’s life because this is when the Holy Spirit will start to ‘clean’ you up from everything you have picked up in the world. In this phase, you will go through character building and renewing the mind.

God will strip you of any bad habits you picked up while in the world. He will heal you from depression, fear, addictions, anger, unforgiveness, trauma, and many other things that hinder you.

You will become a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!’

This phase is called ‘the wilderness season.’ – whew, it’s not an easy season, but it is very needed to prepare you to possess your promises for when you get to your ‘Promised land.’ The Bible says God had the Israelites go through the wilderness to humble and test them. So Deuteronomy 8:2 says, ‘Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.’ So likewise, remember, God is testing you and humbling you during this phase.

In our next post, I will help you and give you counsel on how to navigate your wilderness season and come out victorious.
