6 Ways To Overcome Constant Worry And Anxiety And Live A Fruitful Life (Matthew 6:25-34)

When we read the Bible, it talks a lot about worry and anxiety and how not to let it affect us. So let’s look at a couple of Bible Verses that states this.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:34 NIV

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

These two Bible verses tell us not to be anxious about anything, but for the layman, that may not be the counsel they may seek when bills are piling up or when you are working two to three jobs to make ends meet. Yet the Bible tells us not to worry or be anxious – Well, I hope these steps will help you put your life into perspective and put into practice the Word Of God.

Have A Relationship With God

Have A Relationship With God: When King Solomon had finished his wise sayings in the book of Ecclesiastes, his conclusion was this: (Ecclesiastes 12:13 NIV)

Now all has been heard;

here is the conclusion of the matter:

Fear God and keep his commandments,

for this is the duty of all mankind.

After he assessed life and the meaninglessness of life, he concluded that the purpose of man was not to collect riches and power but to Fear God and keep his commandments.

To define worry, it is when we give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.

God does not want us to dwell on difficulties or troubles that we do not have answers to – When we have a relationship with God, God takes care of all our present troubles and future troubles as well.

Relationship with God means constant communication with God (prayer). When we pray and put our concerns and situation before God, He answers us and helps us to overcome those situations.

Active Prayer Life

Active Prayer Life: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6 NIV).

Prayer is how we communicate with God. To tell God our problems and to receive instructions or guidance to solving our issues is to pray and talk to God.

Whatever your worry is, present it to God, and remember God knows everything, and He knew that you would go through that exact situation. And before the creation of this world, God already provided a solution to that problem. So you must pray to God and ask Him what the answer to your problem is – and pay attention to the instructions that God will inspire you to take.

Renewing The Mindset

Renewing The Mindset: Be very careful about what you think. Your thoughts run your life (Proverbs 4:23 ICB).

Renewing your mindset is very important if you want your life to change. As the Bible verse states, your thoughts run your life.

I have struggled with this for a very long time because of my mental health. I did struggle with fear and anxiety, and by God’s grace, I don’t struggle with that anymore. And as a child of God, you are not immune to the struggles of mental health.

One day, I asked God why I felt the way I felt, and He told me to renew my mind. And trust me, it’s not easy to renew the mind when the enemy forms strongholds in your mind; it is difficult to cast them down all by yourself.

So I advocate that you get Bible scriptures to pray over your mind and yourself until you begin to see changes, and sometimes you may need to see a therapist to help you overcome. Pray and ask God. Therapy coupled with prayer could be beneficial for most people.

Here are some Bible Scriptures you can pray over yourself to renew your mindset.

Psalm 51:10

Philippians 4:13

Romans 12:2

Ephesians 4:23

Colossians 3:2

Philippians 2:5

Colossians 3:10

Pray and meditate on these Bible verses over yourself every day. God is a healer, and the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. For example, when satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus used the Word of God to overcome the enemy. This tells us how powerful the Word Of God is against the enemy.

Overcome Emotional Trauma

Overcome Emotional Trauma: We live in a broken world, and we can not control how others treat us. As a result, many people suffer from emotional trauma, which results from experiences they may have encountered during childhood or adulthood. These experiences cause many to hold on to hurt, pain, bitterness, resentment, and many more negative emotions.

These emotions may cross over into depression, anxiety, fear, or worry when we don’t check them.

It is imperative to forgive others when they hurt us. It may be tough to forgive, but again, when we submit our hurts to God, He will help us forgive whoever may have hurt us. Please read our post here about why forgiveness is important to God.

Study The Word Of God

Study The Word Of God: In (Joshua 1:8), the Bible tells us to Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

The Word Of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. Therefore, when we open our Bibles, studying and meditating on God’s word is imperative. When we study and meditate on God’s word, it helps us grow spiritually and know God intimately.

As we grow spiritually, our relationship with God flourishes, and when you know God and His will for your life, the things you used to worry about, you no longer worry about those things.

Actively Pursue The Goal Or Purpose

Actively Pursue The Goal Or Purpose: When we pray to God to solve an issue that induces worry in our lives, God will often send us instructions on what to do.

I love the story of the widow’s olive oil in the Bible found in (2 Kings 4:1-7). Please read and meditate on that Bible story. In this story, the widow was worried because her husband’s creditors were coming to take her sons away, but when she asked for help, the prophet of God gave her a solution to her problem.

Have you prayed to God about your problem, and have God answered you and given you instructions on what to do to solve your problem?

In the widow’s case, Elisha told her to gather as many jars as she could collect and begin pouring the little olive oil. As we know, all the jars filled up, and she sold some of the oil and paid her debt, and she lived on the rest of the oil.

If God has given you instructions on how to solve your problem, please don’t hesitate, actively pursue the purpose God has provided you.
